Medical Laboratory Science Major (MLSC), BS

At least 32 of the last 40 semester hours immediately preceding entry into the clinical year, including at least 12 upper-level hours in the sciences, must be completed at Harding with a minimum 2.0 GPA.

Students have the responsibility of making application and gaining admission to an approved clinical program, although Harding will provide counsel and assistance. Currently, Harding has affiliation with the School of Medical Laboratory Science at Baptist Health College Little Rock, AR 72210 - Program Director: Jennie Manees, M.PH., MT (ASCP).

Students interested in pursuing the clinical year in a hospital other than Baptist Health College should consider pursuing a biology degree while fulfilling the prerequisites for that program and applying after receiving a bachelor’s degree.

Requirements


Liberal Arts: 38 Hours


All majors at Harding are required to complete the 47-hours Liberal Arts  program. The following Liberal Arts requirements are met within the content of major:

  • 9 hours of Inquiry, Investigation, and Reasoning are satisfied in the major.

Remaining Bible/Electives: 6 Hours


Medical Laboratory Science Clinical: 38 Hours


All required courses for the medical laboratory science program must be successfully completed at Baptist Health College. Students must also register for the courses below in Pipeline for each semester to be eligible for federal student loans.

Fall: 18 Hours


Spring: 20 Hours


Students will also be required to enroll in an additional 1-hour course at Baptist Health that will not transfer back to Harding.

Total Hours: 128
