NURS 3510 - Nursing Adults with Chronic Health and Rehabilitation Concerns This course prepares nursing students to provide care to diverse adult populations with chronic health conditions. Students integrate the knowledge of pathophysiology, health assessment, and clinical skills as they learn and care for hospitalized patients experiencing acute exacerbation, complications, or nearing the end of life. Students use a body system-based approach and critical thinking and clinical judgment skills to effectively provide nursing care in the simulated learning environment and in acute care settings. Students establish caring relationships using effective communication to engage with patients, family, and healthcare team members. Using clinical judgment, students analyze cues from the patient assessment to prioritize hypotheses and generate solutions to take action to improve patient outcomes. Students seek out the best evidence to enhance care delivery for those with chronic illnesses. Students safely administer medications following best practices and monitor patient responses to their treatment. Students grow and develop their professional identity as they demonstrate accountability and integrity and apply Christian principles in their nursing care for adults with chronic health conditions.
