NURS 2030/2030L - Health Assessment This course prepares nursing students to apply health assessment techniques using clinical judgment in understanding a holistic, person-centered approach to providing care that encompasses a person’s physical, psychological, social, and spiritual wellbeing. Students will demonstrate communication and psychomotor assessment skills through participation in simulations. Students will incorporate critical thinking to gather and organize subjective and objective data, analyze assessment findings, and document patient encounters. This course integrates communication strategies and assessment skills while utilizing a Christian servant approach to patients of different cultures, beliefs and developmental levels.
This course is required of students prior to admission into the nursing program. Open to non-nursing students with prior approval. A grade of C or higher is required to progress. Two lecture hours and three laboratory hours per week. Computer requirement: All students involved in the nursing program must have ready access to a laptop computer and designated software. Specific hardware and software requirements are posted on the Carr College of Nursing website.
Prerequisite(s): CHEM 1010/1010L , BIOL 2400/2400L , BIOL 2405/2405L . (Either BIOL 2405/2405L or CHEM 1010/1010L may be taken concurrently with NURS 2030/2030L).
