NURS 3500 - Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing In classroom, acute, and community-based settings, students use ethical professional nursing practice standards to increase knowledge of and assist adult patients with mental health and psychiatric concerns to restore, maintain, and promote recovery and attain optimum well-being. In addition, students apply evidence-based theories, concepts, and the nursing process to promote critical thinking skills to provide holistic nursing care. Responsibility and accountability for nursing care, teamwork, ethical issues, respect for human worth and dignity, cultural diversity, global perspective, and a commitment to a servant-leadership lifestyle are foundational elements for clinical judgments and patient outcomes. Three lecture hours per week and 45 clinical hours.
