Music Major (MUBM), BM

Music Major Core: 33 Hours

Music major status requires a passing score of 80 percent or higher on the Theory Entrance Exam or MUS 1700  with a grade of B or higher; and satisfactory performance on the Theory, Keyboard and Principle Applied Performance Evaluations. Bachelor of Music status requires meeting the initial standards of the specific concentration, which may include technical proficiency, repertoire level, etc. If the standards are not met upon enrollment, the student may be admitted provisionally and must meet the standards by the beginning of the second semester in order to be considered a Bachelor of Music candidate.

• BMIN 3000 - Hymnology Credit Hours: 2, 3
• COMM 2230 - Audio Production and Recording Credit Hours: 3
• MUS 1400-1409 - Music Forum Credit Hours: 0 (Majors must enroll in and satisfy the requirements every semester.)
• MUS 1710 - Theory and Ear Training I Credit Hours: 4

• (Leveling for MUS 1710 , if needed, increases required music hours by 3 credit hours.)

• MUS 1720 - Theory and Ear Training II Credit Hours: 4
• MUS 3700 - Theory and Ear Training III Credit Hours: 4
• MUS 3710 - Theory and Ear Training IV Credit Hours: 4
• MUS 3210 - Music History I Credit Hours: 3
• MUS 3220 - Music History II Credit Hours: 3
• MUS 3230 - Music History III Credit Hours: 3
• MUS 3240 - World Music Credit Hours: 3
• Majors must participate in a primary music ensemble every semester. MUS 1310-1319 , MUS 1320-1329 , MUS 1330-1339 , MUS 1380-1389 , MUS 1390-1399 , MUS 1410-1419 , MUS 1430-1439 , MUS 1440-1449 , MUS 3510-3519 , MUS 3520-3529 , MUS 3530-3539 , MUS 3580-3589 , MUS 3590-3599 , MUS 3610-3619  (Enrollment in ensembles is not required for credit. If taken for credit, hours will be counted as electives.)
