Interdisciplinary Studies is a primary major. Students may select majors designated as “Second Major Only” as an additional major. Interdisciplinary Studies is open to non-honors students and has an honors track.
Honors College Track: The Interdisciplinary Studies advisor works in tandem with Honors College leadership and faculty around campus to facilitate a specialized degree plan. Honors College students can demonstrate marketable professional skills and academic aptitude by achieving the Honors College Graduate or Graduate with Distinction goal. Consult with the Honors College about options for earning honors credit.

Liberal Arts: 47 Hours
All majors at Harding are required to complete the 47-hour Liberal Arts program.
Note: Requirements for Scripture, Truth, and Ethics cannot be used toward the Bible thematic concentration.
Interdisciplinary Studies: 4 Hours
Honors Track
Honors Option 1: Qualified students pursuing Honors College Graduate with Distinction status may earn honors capstone credit for IDS 4500 OR
Honors Option 2: Qualified honors students who intend to write an honors thesis should enroll in HNRS 4360-4361 and HNRS 4460-4463 .
Major Thematic Concentration Areas or Minors: 45 Hours
To initiate the process, the student meets with the IDS advisor who facilitates a specialized degree plan in consultation with faculty members from concentration areas across campus, out of which a student degree plan informed by a clearly articulated rationale statement is created. Students must declare the major before completing 75 hours. Students must choose 2 or 3 thematic core areas or university minors to earn at least 45 hours toward this major. Minimum GPA requirement for each thematic concentration or minor is a 3.0. Courses may only be used in either one thematic core area or minor. This major must include a minimum of 24 upper-level credits from the combined core concentration areas. The major should include a minimum of nine 4000-level credits from the combined core concentration areas. Exceptions to this guideline may be granted with approval of the dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. Concentration 1: Arts and Humanities
