Human Biology Major (HB), BS

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

The human biology major is an option to provide students with a strong foundation in both biology and exercise science to enhance their training and competitiveness for positions in health professional programs. This program allows students to experience courses routinely highlighted as beneficial by alumni who have successfully completed medical and allied health programs such as physician assistant or physical therapy school.

Students majoring in human biology are required to designate and complete prerequisite courses for a preprofessional program. While this degree plan is well-suited for a variety of human health-related career interests, the curriculum does not adequately prepare students for pursuing research-focused graduate school work. The biology and exercise science departments offer alternative degree options for research-based graduate programs.
