Leadership and Innovation Minor - Accelerated MA

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

The minor in Leadership and Innovation is available to students from any academic department and can be used for an accelerated completion of the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership (MAOL). Students approved for this interdisciplinary minor will complete 6 hours of undergraduate-level coursework and 12 hours of graduate-level coursework from an approved list of courses. The 12 hours of graduate coursework can be applied to the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership after a student graduates with his or her undergraduate degree. Successful completion of the minor with a 3.0 GPA or higher will grant the student automatic admission to the MAOL program.

Undergraduate students who are interested in this accelerated minor in Leadership and Innovation must have a successful track record in their previous coursework, hold a minimum of 3.0 GPA, and be comfortable with taking online courses.

To apply for the Leadership and Innovation Minor, a student must have successfully completed 45 credit hours and hold a 3.0 GPA. At that point, the student should submit an inquiry email to the MAOL Director at maol@harding.edu and copy their academic advisor. The MAOL Director will serve as the point of contact for the accelerated minor and will work with the student’s major advisor to make sure the student meets the course requirements.

Six undergraduate hours for the minor may be taken when the student has been approved for the minor. Those 6 hours may be selected from any of the approved interdisciplinary courses. The selected courses are aligned with the MAOL’s emphasis on leadership, communication, innovation, negotiation, team building, and team and relational support. They also offer an appropriate emphasis on writing and research.

Twelve hours will come from MAOL core graduate-level courses. These graduate-level courses may be taken after the undergraduate has completed 75 credit hours. Academic rigor and high expectations will be the same for both undergraduate and graduate students in these courses. These 12 credit hours will apply dually to the minor and the Master of Arts.

At the completion of the student’s undergraduate degree with this minor, the student will only lack 18 credit hours for the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership.
