Department of Kinesiology


Mission

The mission of the Department of Kinesiology is to prepare Christian professionals for careers in teaching, coaching and sports-related business in the area of kinesiology.

Programs Offered

The department offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in kinesiology (non-licensure) and a Bachelor of Science degree in the following majors: kinesiology and health (licensure) and sport and recreation management. The kinesiology and health licensure major prepares students to teach health and physical education and coach in elementary, middle, and secondary schools. The sport and recreation management major prepares students to work in the administrative, management, and business areas of sport (front office administration) and recreation (health clubs, local parks, recreation, etc.). The kinesiology (non-licensure) major prepares students for careers associated with kinesiology.

A Master of Science in Kinesiology and Sport Administration  is also offered. This graduate program is designed for professionals working in the areas of teaching, coaching, and athletic administration who want to pursue graduate education in kinesiology.

Minors are offered in coaching, health, kinesiology, outdoor recreation leadership, sport and recreation management, and sport psychology.

Required Core

All Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree majors require a uniform kinesiology core of 20 hours. The purpose of the core is to provide all kinesiology students with a common body of knowledge.
