HIST 5059 - History of the American Presidency

Offered with sufficient enrollment. The development of the American Presidency from the Constitution and Washington to the present, examining the origins of the two-party system, significant elections and growth of presidential power. Special attention will be given to the Presidents who shaped the Office of the President, and to their life histories, personalities, policies, and places in history.
