ENG 1100 - Guided University Writing and Research

This course provides guided training for students in outlining, drafting, revising, and proofreading highly-polished writing that is engaged with diverse points of view and that meets the requirements of university-level work. Students will learn to use grammar, sentence structure, paragraphing, and organization to explain an idea clearly with depth and detail. They will investigate other perspectives on their ideas using library and online resources, and they will learn the mechanics of proper citation and formatting. Designed to be taken at the beginning of a student’s studies by students who do not meet the prerequisites for ENG 1110 , this course lays the groundwork for success in other university courses.

The course is required for students who have no credit in college composition and who scored 17 or below on the ACT English Examination or 490 or below on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing Examination. A grade of C or higher is required to be eligible for ENG 2110 .

Term Offered: Fall, Spring
