COUN 6030 - Legal and Ethical Issues in Counseling


This course equips counselors/therapists with knowledge about the legal environment and ethical issues surrounding school and clinical settings. It introduces the American legal system and case law, statutes, and regulations with special attention given to applications of laws and regulations. Following standards of AAMFT, ACA and ASCA, this course provides opportunities for students to develop a professional identity and explore professional issues through cases, simulations and hypotheticals using a multidisciplinary team approach. A focus on ethical decision making from a Christian and professional perspective is emphasized.
