NURS 3160/3160L - Essentials of Professional Nursing An elective nursing transition course for students pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing, transfer students who have had nursing courses, or anyone who desires additional study and review of nursing fundamental concepts, principles, and skills prior to or immediately after admission to the BSN program. Academic skill development is incorporated with principles and concepts from the sciences and humanities. The course focuses on the synthesis and application of physical assessment, nursing theory fundamentals, pathophysiology, ethical and legal issues, and professionalism for use in fundamental nursing care. All curriculum student learning outcomes are incorporated throughout the course. 2.5 lecture hours per week and 24 laboratory hours are required in nursing simulation activities and fundamental nursing skills review.
