NURS 1000 - Introduction to Nursing This course is designed to equip students with tools for success in the nursing program and to provide them with an overview of the underpinnings of professional nursing, including historical perspectives, nursing theory, legal and ethical principles, professionalism, and trends in nursing education. Students are invited to explore the many areas of practice available to nursing professionals, to encounter the profession through interviews with practicing nurses, and ultimately to begin developing their own professional identity, grounded in the Carr College of Nursing’s mission statement, “Developing nurses as Christian Servants.” A grade of C or higher is required. This course is open to all students and is eligible for honors credit.
