CHEM 4120 - Environmental Chemistry


This course is an in-depth review of environmental chemistry. The course will study the chemistry of air, water, and toxic compounds as they are related to the greater systems of our planet. Topics will include steady- and nonsteady-state modeling, chemical kinetics, stratospheric ozone, photochemical smog, the greenhouse effect, carbonate equilibria, the application of partition coefficients, pesticides, and toxic metals.

Prerequisite(s): CHEM 1050/1050L  and either CHEM 2110  or CHEM 3740/3740L  

Credit Hours: 3
