SPED 6060 - Practices and Procedures for Children with Exceptionalities This course introduces the teacher candidate to special education legislation, individualized education programs (IEPs), Section 504 plans, the characteristics of students with various disabilities, lifespan needs of students with disabilities, collaboration, families of children with disabilities, universal design for learning, positive behavior supports, differentiated instruction and various adaptations/modifications that can be used to accommodate students with exceptionalities. This course meets the Arkansas Department of Education requirement for the SPED 101 Academy as outlined in the Licensure policies.
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the MAT Licensure degree program
