ENG 3900 - Film as Literature

Film is a powerful narrative tool that allows viewers to see the world through a different lens. In this course, students will develop an understanding and appreciation of the cultural impact of film by screening and analyzing clips and full-length movies from representative classic and contemporary films. Students will consider not only the narrative power of film but also social questions raised by cinematic representation. Topics vary from semester to semester and may include “The South” in Film, Shakespeare in Film, African American Film, Gender and Film, Philosophy and Film, and others. This course is required for the Film Major.

Credit Hours: 3
