ENG 4520 - Senior Project II

This course is designed to test the ability of graduating seniors to research, write, and present a scholarly paper that validates their undergraduate credentials and predicts success at the graduate level or in the workplace. The project culminates with an oral presentation, in symposium format, of a paper developed under the supervision of a faculty mentor. The topic for the paper, which must be approved by the course director, may be on a new topic, or a significant revision of a paper prepared previously or concurrently for an upper-level English course. The course must be taken for two semesters, but credit will only be earned in the final semester. During the first semester students will work under the direction of the course facilitator to conduct research and develop an approved project proposal. In addition, students will review MLA formatting and Documentation, and learn about the processes for graduate school application and the job search. In the first semester, students work under the guidance of the project supervisor (the teacher of record). In the final semester students work under the guidance of a faculty mentor to complete the project.
