ENG 4150 - Mythology and Folk Tales

The goal of this course is to expose students to some of the fundamental mythologies of a variety of cultures, to equip them with critical tools for interpreting mythology and folklore in general, and to examine the process of myth-making (mythopoeia) itself. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to appreciate these stories in the context of their native cultures as well as in their universal function as witnesses of humanity’s imaginative interaction with the sublime.
