English Major


The Program Learning Outcomes for this major are:

  • Graduates will demonstrate knowledge and comprehension of major authors and texts written in English and will apply multiple theoretical perspectives and approaches through analysis and response.
  • Secondary Licensure Graduates will apply skills in curriculum development, classroom management, lesson planning, assessment and other skills as appropriate for secondary teachers of English language and literature.
  • Graduates will write stylistically appropriate and original expository, interpretative, and/or creative texts that demonstrate proficiency of the writing, research, and revision processes.
  • Graduates will articulate the intrinsic and professional value of the study of literature; exhibit professionalism in interactions with faculty, students, and the public; demonstrate academic integrity.
  • Students will demonstrate growth in spiritual and ethical perspectives and engage the life of the mind for Christian scholars.
  • Students will demonstrate growth in intercultural awareness and respect for diverse ideas.
