Art and Design Major

The expected Program Learning Outcomes for this major are:

The successful Art and Design graduate will:

• produce high-quality, well-constructed, and creative works of art as expected by a professional in their field.
• exhibit creative and critically diverse thinking in their pieces of fine art/pure design or applied design.
• articulate through a design philosophy/artist’s statement connections between their work and the history of Art and Design.
• be able to create artwork within a contemporary social, cultural, economic, and/or ecological context that defines/illustrates an understanding/application of Christian empathy and compassion.
• incorporate Biblical principles and aesthetics in their work.
• demonstrate ethics and integrity in their working relationships commensurate with Christ-like behavior found in scripture.
• engage with their profession and present a plan for post-graduation career development.
