Art and Design Major


The expected Program Learning Outcomes for this major are:

  • Successful graduating art and design majors will present a plan for post-graduation career development built on familiarity with a variety of career paths and professional practices, including independent roles, education, corporate career progression and vocational ministry.
  • The student will make contextual connections between his/her art/design work within the history of the field of art and design.
  • The successful art and design graduate will:
    • be able to create artwork within a contemporary social, cultural, economic and/or ecological context that defines/illustrates an understanding/application of Christian empathy and compassion.
    • connect Biblical principles and aesthetic theories in their work.
    • demonstrate ethics and integrity in their working relationships commensurate with Christ-like behavior found in scripture.
    • engage with their profession.
    • exhibit creative and critically diverse thinking in their pieces of fine art/pure design or applied design.
    • produce high quality, well-constructed, and creative works of art as expected by a professional in their field.
