Chemistry Major (CHBA), BA

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

The Bachelor of Arts in chemistry is an intensive undergraduate program that provides foundational coursework in chemistry and includes substantial laboratory work. The program provides flexibility in the selection of advanced chemistry coursework and elective courses from other fields of science to meet the needs of individual students. The major prepares students to analyze chemical problems, conduct experiments, and process data using appropriate statistical methods. The B.A. program is less demanding mathematically compared to the Bachelor of Science program and is well suited for students preparing for professional programs in medicine, dentistry, and optometry. B.A. graduates might opt to work as laboratory technicians in the pharmaceutical industry, as research assistants in toxicology or chemistry laboratories, or as technicians in biotechnology and forensic firms.
