Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Major (SLPA), BA

Graduates of the speech-language pathology assistant (SLPA) program will be prepared to serve a diverse client population under the supervision of a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist. (SLP). The BA in SLPA requires 64 hours in discipline-specific coursework, including two fieldwork courses. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the national credentialing exam and will have appropriate coursework and clinical experiences to meet licensure requirements in Arkansas and in most other states (state licensure guidelines vary).

All majors at Harding are required to complete the 47-hour Liberal Arts  program. The following Liberal Arts requirements are met within the content of major:

Students are encouraged to add an education studies minor  or psychology minor

Note(s):


Students must have a 2.8 GPA to participate in the SLPA program. Students whose GPAs drop below 2.8 have one semester in which to raise the GPA to the required standard in order to continue through the course sequence. Students must have a 3.0 GPA to enter their fieldwork courses making the required minimum GPA for graduation a 3.0.
