Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

The accelerated track makes it possible for qualified students to complete both a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and a Master of Science in Nursing in five years. Students will declare Health Studies - Master’s Entry into Professional Nursing (HSPN) as their undergraduate major, complete liberal arts credits and nursing prerequisites during their first three years, and finish graduate school in years four and five. The college will notify the Registrar’s Office when a student is approved for the accelerated track.

Acceptance into the Master’s Entry into Professional Nursing (MEPN) program involves a secondary application process utilizing NursingCAS. Students enrolled in the accelerated track who are not accepted into the MEPN program will transition to complete the Health Studies, BS degree in the fourth year. Consultation with the Director of Admissions of the College of Nursing can be scheduled, if the student is interested in applying to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

Early MEPN students who transfer undergraduate credit hours are required to make an appointment with a Carr College of Nursing advisor to evaluate their transcript individually. Students choosing to earn a BS in Health Studies while enrolled in the EMEPN, will need to complete at least 128 credit hours, complete all the degree requirements of Health Studies, including 8 hours of Bible and IDS 2500  and IDS 4500 . However, a minor is not required for students who complete at least 18 hours of graduate-level courses.

Students on the accelerated track must meet all MEPN program requirements for admission
