18 hours, including:

• MUS 1010-1015 - Music Appreciation Credit Hours: 3 is required of all minors
• MUS 1710 - Theory and Ear Training I Credit Hours: 4
• 2 hours of class or private piano
• 2 additional hours of applied study in the primary area at the 1010, 1020, or 3020 level.
• Primary ensemble participation (credit optional) - two semesters.
• 6 upper-level hours in Music (no more than 4 of these in upper-level ensemble participation).
• 1 additional hour in Music.
