Mission
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry supports the mission of Harding University. We are committed to:
Model Christian professionalism in the way we teach and interact with students both in and out of the classroom.
Outfit our students with the necessary knowledge and skills through rigorous, challenging, and insightful instruction that they will need for successful careers in chemistry, education, health professions or allied disciplines.
Lead our students in developing their critical thinking skills and their oral and written communication skills. We will cultivate in our students the capacities and dispositions for reflective and critical thought, independent lifelong learning, ethical practices in science, and creativity and innovation to create scientific knowledge all within the Christian worldview.
Engage our students in the scientific inquiry.
Program Information
The Bachelor of Science degree is awarded to biochemistry , biochemistry and molecular biology , chemistry , environmental science , forensic science , and health sciences majors. The Bachelor of Arts degree is awarded in chemistry and chemistry, teacher licensure . Minors are offered in chemistry , environmental science and forensic science .
The Department of Biology and Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offer a research certificate for undergraduate students.
Leveling work decreases the hours of electives or increases the total hours in the degree.
A nonrefundable fee is required in each course that has a laboratory.
Seniors within the department must take an exit exam within their major during their final semester.
