MUS 1700 - Fundamentals of Music Theory

The study of basic musical elements including scales, key signatures, intervals, note values, and meter. Instruction will include beginning sight singing and ear training. No previous musical training is necessary. Does not count toward a major or minor in music. Students must earn a grade of "B" or better in MUS 1700 to enroll in MUS 1710.

Prerequisite: Entering music students must take the Theory Entrance Examination and Piano Placement Examination. Please come by the music office to take these exams.
