ENG 2310 - Introduction to Literary StudiesThis course introduces students to the major genres, terms, concepts, methods, and skills needed to study literature at the university level. It also introduces them to departmental expectations for writing and research, and to the major hurdles ahead, including Senior Symposium, job searches, career pathways, and graduate study. It will clarify students' purpose in teaching, writing, or studying literature and illuminate their potential for Christian service. Students will demonstrate ability in effective research methods and effective writing as they analyze and interpret fiction, poetry, drama, and film. Previously taught authors include Flannery O'Connor, Anton Chekhov, Emily Dickinson, Wole Soyinka, and Andrew Niccol. Credit Hours: 3 Term Offered: Fall, Spring |
