PHA 6770 - Patient Assessment


An interactive course designed to introduce the student to the pharmacy care process, especially the relationship between patient assessment skills and the pharmacist. This course includes basic skills for evaluating and monitoring pharmacotherapy as well as common triaging skills utilized in various pharmacy settings. A review of basic laboratory monitoring, methods of physical assessment, the concepts of pharmacy care, therapeutic planning, and monitoring drug therapy are provided. Assists the student with developing insight into the relationship between these components and the patient's pharmacotherapy. Demonstration of assessment techniques is required. The course provides preparation for pharmacotherapy sequences and pharmacy practice experiences.
