Advanced inquiry into reading/writing theories and current strategies of instruction. Examines reading and writing as processes, modeling of the metacognitive strategies of proficient readers, integration of the language arts across the curriculum, creating literate classroom environments, utilization of technology to enhance literacy instruction, reading/writing workshop, and its alignment with state and national standards, frameworks, assessments and the role of the reading professional.
