PHA 762 - Substance Abuse

This elective course is designed to facilitate comprehensive learning regarding various aspects of substance use disorders and addiction in our society, and ways in which the pharmacist can offer a positive influence. Related topics to be covered include epidemiology, prevention and treatment approaches, special population issues, and clinical aspects pertaining to each drug class. Students will prepare and deliver a one-hour presentation to the class based upon textbook information, literature review, Internet sites information, and current events. Guest speaker(s) may deliver content specific information during the class. Student's active participation in class and assignments enhance the learning process.
