Piano Performance Major

The expected Program Learning Outcomes for this major are:

• The ability to:
  • read a variety of musical scores at the keyboard with a high level of proficiency.
  • perform a variety of repertoire on the piano with advanced technical and interpretive skills.
  • use understanding of common Western theory practices to compose, notate, arrange and analyze music.
  • understand and think critically regarding significant genres, composers, and styles in Western music.
  • collaborate in music ensembles with high-level skills.
  • develop and defend musical judgments.
  • hear, identify, and work conceptually with the elements of music such as rhythm, melody, harmony, structure, timbre and texture.
