American Studies Major

The expected Program Learning Outcomes for this major are:

• Students will:
  • understand and produce work consistent with integrity standards.
  • locate, evaluate, incorporate, and properly cite multiple information sources.
  • demonstrate knowledge of the foundations, processes, institutions, and actors operating at the local, state, and national levels of the political and economic system.
  • produce and present an original research project in which they synthesize the findings of existing scholarships, collect and analyze data (or evidence), and develop research conclusions.
  • be able to read critically and analyze American history, institutions, culture, and thought to understand the ways in which the American Experience has been, and continues to be, constructed and transmitted.
