The expected Program Learning Outcomes for this major are:
- Students will:
- apply knowledge of developmental milestones to develop an appropriate treatment plan for pediatric language disorders.
- be able to list and define the five components of language.
- Students will demonstrate:
- a robust and person-centered knowledge of aural rehabilitation services beyond amplification.
- basic knowledge of human anatomy & physiology supporting speech, language, voice and swallowing.
- a basic proficiency in making appropriate amplification recommendations based on audiometric findings and a case history.
- competence in narrow phonetic transcription of normal and disordered speech.
- general knowledge of various outer and middle ear disorders.
- proficiency in academic writing related to the discipline.
- proficiency in speech and hearing science.
- the ability to interpret findings from common tools used to evaluate articulation/phonological disorders.
