Health Studies


The expected Program Learning Outcomes for this major are:

  • Students develop critical thinking skills that allow them to make the intellectual connection between disciplinary fields in their areas of concentration.
    • ULO 3: Critical Thinking: Students will examine issues, ideas, artifacts and/or events in order to formulate or assess an opinion or conclusion.
    • Possible connects with ULO 6: Creative Perspective and ULO 7: Scientific Perspective
  • Students develop an awareness of diverse peoples, cultures and ideas and appreciate the important of engaging in lifelong interdisciplinary learning to become informed and responsible global citizens.
    • ULO 4: Global Citizenship: Students will exhibit cultural knowledge, communicative and interpersonal skills and other-centered dispositions necessary for responsible interaction with cultures different from their own.
  • Students learn to develop linkages between their interdisciplinary intellectual inquiries and their own Christian worldview and ethical positions in terms of contemporary challenges facing individuals, communities and societies.
    • ULO 1: Biblical Knowledge and Application: Students will demonstrate understanding of Biblical content and interpretation and their applications in ethical decision-making.
  • Students demonstrate effective communication (written, oral) to facilitate personal and professional growth in the chosen concentrations of study.
    • ULO 2: Communication: Students will demonstrate effective communication (e.g. written, non-written, spoken).
    • ULO 8: Wellness Perspective: Students will exhibit knowledge and skills that lead to high-level personal wellness (e. g., spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, social).
