Accelerated Speech-Language Pathology


The expected Program Learning Outcomes for this major are:

  • Students will be able to list and define the five components of language.
  • Students will demonstrate mastery of narrow phonetic transcription of normal and disordered speech.  
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to interpret findings from common tools used to evaluate articulation/phonological disorders.
  • Students will apply knowledge of developmental milestones to develop an appropriate treatment plan for pediatric language disorders.
  • Students will demonstrate basic knowledge of human anatomy & physiology supporting speech, language, voice and swallowing.
  • Students will demonstrate mastery of technical writing related to the discipline.
  • Students will demonstrate basic knowledge of type and degree if hearing loss.
  • Students will demonstrate general knowledge of various outer and middle ear disorders.
  • Students will demonstrate basic proficiency in making appropriate amplification recommendations based on audiometric findings and a case history.
  • Students will demonstrate a robust and person-centered knowledge of aural rehabilitation services beyond amplification.
